This idea focuses on how learning to read with a critical eye and an understanding of language as an art form a reader can experience the from great novels. Going beneath the surface of the story a reader can learn about human nature in how characters respond to conflict and grow as people. Readers can experience different worlds from safe distances and develop greater empathy for the lives of others.
